Favorite value in a bike chain

I've always purchased RK chains for their value and I've never been disappointed. Well made, sealed in package, master link included and worked perfectly. I got this particular chain for my XR400R that I just ride around my yard and occasionally herd animals with.

O-ring chains give you the best seal but at the cost of a little drag. Unless you're a professional racer they're my recommendation for any bike chain. Make sure you get the correct strength for your bike. Too weak and you're putting yourself in danger, too strong and you're throwing money out the window. A stronger chain won't wear significantly different; chain life is all about keeping it properly maintained.

An O-ring chain will last thousands of miles with proper cleaning, adjustment, and lube. The previous owner neglected the chain and ruined his sprocket, which he replaced just before I bought the bike. I got the new chain so the old damaged chain didn't ruin the nice new sprocket.

Product not as advertised

I ordered this chain expecting to receive the item pictured and described, the RK 520XSO. Instead I received the 520SO which does not have a tensile strength of 8500lbs as described and is not intended for bikes up to 750cc as described. From what I've read this is a discontinued model of chain that is intended for bikes up to 500cc. It can still be used, but not on 600cc or 750cc bikes. It should also be noted that the chain comes with a clip-style master link.

I have been using the RK brand of chains for many years on my offroad bikes. I typically paid much more at the bike shops.for this chain. If you want a great chain at a great price, this is it!
