5More horsepower, more maintenance, cheaper initial price
By GREG
Everyone loves "O" ring chains. Simply put, O ring chains last longer than standard chains providing you take care of them. But O ring chains also cost more, sometimes almost twice what a standard chain cost. Everyone I know who rides is also looking for more horsepower and will bolt on just about any gimmick or device to try to achieve simple 1-3hp gains. What if I tell you that by switching to a standard chain, you can get those gains by doing exactly what you have been doing, replacing your chain every year. Yes, the math is correct, you will see an avg of 1-3 hp at the rear by switching to a standard chain. Try that for 65.00 with anything else you can slap on your bike. With this chain you need to be diligent with your maintenance and clean and lube it right out of the box. I prefer chain wax for a new chain first time on the bike then switch to a quality lube after the first few rides. I clean my chain after 4 rides. Initial stretch is a bit more than with O ring c hains but once done, it will not stretch any more. I run this chain on an XR400, Yz450f and KX500.
